SEATTLE, Wash. - Creighton men's soccer team scored in the second minute of play late Thursday night against Washington and didn't score again until the 109th minute of play. The late goal helped defeat the Huskies, 2-1, in double overtime. Mike Tranchilla's (Barnhart, Mo. / St. Pius X) third goal in two games at 108:44 gave the 16th-ranked Bluejays the victory and upped their season mark to 5-1-1.

Tranchilla worked with freshman Mehdi Ballouchy (Casa Blanca, Morocco) to score the game winner. The senior forward gave the ball to Ballouchy about 25 yards out, where the freshman was able to beat two Washington defenders. The rookie then flipped the ball back to Creighton's preseason All-American inside the penalty area where Tranchilla was able to dribble the goalkeeper out and push the ball into the net for the game-winner.

Ballouchy also tallied the Bluejays first goal of the night, just 1:17 into the match. The Morocco native, scored on an unassisted goal to put the Jays up.

Washington (2-2-2), ranked 17th by Soccer America, evened the game in the 15th minute when Dayo Oyetuga managed to get a shot past Mike Gabb (Omaha / Burke) for the only Husky goal of the night.

Gabb was once again impressive in goal as he stopped a season-high seven shots on the night to move into fifth place in on the all-time school saves list with 145 saves. His victory also moved him into a tie for fifth place on the career win list at 28. Gabb stopped five shots in the second half and one in double overtime to preserve the CU victory.

The Bluejays remain on the west coast for another contest, traveling south to Portland, Ore., where they will face the Portland Pilots, Saturday afternoon at 4:15 (CST). The Pilots (4-2-0) are ranked No. 12 in this week's Soccer America poll.
